Hi, everyone! I know It’s been a long time since I’ve posted something and I have no excuses. Well, I’m going to start right now! In the past few days, I went to Boutique Mariclod. In this store they’re selling wedding dresses, gown dresses and more! That’s where I bought my gown. It’s awesome, and because I was going to the Miss Teen Canada the stylist decided to sell me her dress at 50%!!! I was so happy!

Lately, I’ve been organizing a big event to gain money for the kidney cancer foundation! The event was the July 15 and it was awesome!! There were 64 people and I’ve gain 1060$ for the foundation!!! I still can’t believe it but I’m super happy and excited to give them the money! I was doing that for my aunt Hélène that is having the kidney cancer. I love her so much!!

Also the 15, I went volunteering for the ”Défi Triple Jeu”. It’s a baseball competition that I was super happy to be a volunteer. I met a lot of nice people and I had so much fun!! Thank you to everyone that let me do this!!

The last thing I’m going to say is thank you.  Thank you to my sponsors! Thank you to Albert Viau, Affichage Pauli, and Boutique Mariclod. It means a lot to me because it means that you believe in me!!!

Hi, everyone! I know I didn’t post for a moment and I’m sorry. I was in a rush of exams and I was really stressed about it. I studied a lot and between I had a show and a competition that I’m going to talk about later. For the exams, the notes are out and I’ve passed them all with a good note. Now that the stress is gone I can breathe and relax a little bit more but I’ve got a lot to do. I’m organizing something that I’m going to talk about in another post.

It’s now been three weeks but I had a show. I was singing a duo with one of my friend name Brandon. I also had a solo that I didn’t mess up but I forgot some lyrics in the middle of the song, oops… At the end, I was happy with my performance.

My competition was about baseball. I was doing the ”Défi triple jeu” . It’ s a competition of throwing the ball at a target, hitting the ball the farthest as possible and about running in the less time possible. I won the silver medal. It means that I’m going to the regionals that are July the 8. I’m super excited for it.

Hi, everybody! My name is Britanie and I’m the new Miss Teenage Lanaudiere 2017. I’m 14 years old and super excited to be in this pageant. I will be posting once a week or more if I have the chance. If you have any questions don’t be shy to contact me or just leave a comment and I’ll answer. First of all, I want to thank my mom because it’s because of her that I’m in this pageant.

I saw the pageant on my facebook page and thought it was super easy to be in. I told my mom and she said to try it and then tell her if it was that simple. When I sent my first survey I was sure that it was going to stop there but it didn’t! I got chosen for the regionals. I was really excited and when we arrived there I was so stressed! All of the girls that I met there were really nice, kind and so beautiful! I thought it’s just a great experience and everything but finally, I got chosen for the Nationals! I’m super excited to go there but we need to be serious because there’s a lot of work to do. I’m ready to do it and prove that I’m going to be a great model for the society.

Some facts about me:

  • I play the guitar, the ukulele, the piano, a little bit of bass and I sing
  • I love reading or watching horror movies
  • The beach is my dream place
  • I’m an artist. I draw and paint, it’s my passion.
  • My dream is to go on a boat with my best friend and travel on this boat in the Pacific
  • I watch anime and speak a little bit in japanese
  • I have a German Shepherd name Kurby and I love her more than anything else

The Official Sponsors

Why them?

Before each show, Rimmel London takes care of Daphnee’s makeup.  Marc Jacobs and Jeanne Lottie are also sponsors. At the end of each show, a person in the audience will have the chance to win a Jeanne Lottie purse if she can guess which outfit was the most economic.

Why would they be interested?

Last June 10th, I participated at the 4th edition of the Relay for Life in Notre-Dame-des-Prairies, Quebec. I built my own team of eight members for the occasion: Miss Teen Lanaudiere. Me and my team walked twelve hours and we raised 2471$ for the Canadian Cancer Society. Not only did I wear my crown and sash for the occasion but I also got to go on stage and say a few words about how I wanted to get involved in my community.

It was extremely surprising to see so many people either fighting against cancer or who survived cancer. There were also thousands of lanterns to enlight the whole path. Each and every one of them was lit to honor a cancer patient. The Relay was started by the Survivors’ Walk which was very moving. Many activities and music animated the night. I had a blast with my team, which was mainly my mother, my aunt, my grandparents, my friends and my boyfriend.

The NDP Relay raised over 200 000$ with the help of its 70 teams. Next year, I will definitely be participating again!

With my boyfriend, after walking the whole night!

About Free The Children

Free The Children was founded in 1995 by Craig Kielburger, an an international child rights activist. The main goal of the organization is to free children from poverty and exploitation. Free The Children also wants to spread the word that young people around the world can make a positive difference. More than one million youth are involved in FTC’s education and development programs throughout 45 different countries. Free The Children has received many awards such as the World’s Children’s Prize for the Rights of the Child, the Human Rights Award and has formed successful partnerships with leading school boards and Oprah’s Angel Network, as mentioned on the Free The Children website.

Free The Children has built more than 650 schools and school rooms around the world and has reached more than one million young people through outreach in North America.

One of their corporate partners: Air Canada’s Kids Horizons

Air Canada works with hundreds of charities and non-profit organizations. Being partners with Free The Children, Air Canada proudly provides air transportation for ill and less wealthy children’s dreams to come true. Kids’ Horizons’ main goal is to make a difference and to offer various programs for sick Canadian children.

Here are a couple of Kids’ Horizons main initiatives:

Every Bit Counts

This is a change collection program where change can be collected on board Air Canada flights and in several different airports, but mainly in Maple Leaf Lounges. It is a small and easy way to make a huge difference in children’s lives.

Wings of Courage

Every month at the SickKids and BC Children’s hospitals, Air Canada pilots read stories to ill children. At the end, honorary pilot certificates and courage medals are given to the children.

There are two more initiatives: One child and Closest to the pin. To read more about them: Visit their website!

I believe Kids’ Horizons is an amazing program and I think (I know!) they make a big difference. The cause of sick children is very important to me, because I lost a cousin of young age to cancer many years ago, and it is still difficult for me to understand that nothing could’ve cured him. Luckily, charities like Kids’ Horizons and Free The Children help many children every year, either by making their dreams come true or by donating money to hospitals.

Soon, I will publish posts about how I raised money for Free The Children and about my participation in the Relay for Life.

Lanaudiere? Now where could that possibly be? Lanaudiere is one of the most beautiful regions in Quebec with its amazing sceneries, luxurious nature and rich culture. The region is full of majestic rivers and waterfalls.

The main city in the north of Lanaudiere is Joliette. It is the home of the most important classical music festival in Canada, the Festival de Lanaudière. Most of the festival’s concerts are held in the Amphithéâtre de Lanaudière. This year, it will be the 34th edition of the festival. Musicians from around the world will come to perform at this renowned festival. On the picture on the above, you can see me in front of the Amphithéâtre.

Downtown Joliette, also known as Place Bourget, is a very active plaza. Locals gather there to eat on the terraces of the many restaurants or shop in the boutiques. During the Holidays, the Marchés de Noël offer a variety of little outdoor shops that sell gingerbread cookies, Christmas decorations and much more. In the summertime, farmers sell fresh fruits and vegetables on the plaza and occasionaly, bands play to set a nice vibe.

My favorite restaurant in Downtown Joliette is Le Fil d‘Ariane, shown in the picture at the left. Not only the building itself is beautiful but they serve mouthwatering french dishes and the service is very friendly. My favorite dish is the poutine au foie gras. Simply scrumptious!

I love Joliette very much, because I went to primary school in this city and this is where I made my best friends for life. Tons of memories that I will never forget were made here.

Joliette isn’t my hometown, though. I live in Crabtree, 10 minutes away from Joliette. Crabtree is a town of only 3632 residents. It may be small, but it is a very nice place to live. It is surrounded by country and rivers. My favorite place in Crabtree is the Moulin Fisk, a beautiful historical site along the Ouareau river. It is a beach made of layers of rocks that contain extremely old fossils.

As I already said, Lanaudiere is an amazing region and I would suggest to anyone traveling to Quebec to come and visit this wonderful place. I am very happy to live in such a great environment!

Hi, everyone! My name is Daphnee Parra-Genest, I’m fourteen years old and I am Miss Teen Lanaudiere-World 2011. I’m am extremely proud that I will represent my province, Quebec, at nationals in July! This is a once in a lifetime adventure that I am about to embark. I can’t wait to see Toronto for the first time, but I also can’t wait to make new friends and to have the time of my life.

The main reason I applied to Miss Teen Canada-World is to become a role model for other Canadian teens, although I also love the glitz and the glamour of the whole thing! My platform is to support cancer research, because it is a cause that is very important to me. An estimated 177,800 new cases of cancer (excluding about 74,100 non-melanoma skin cancers) and 75,000 deaths will occur in Canada in 2011. These statistics are very sad but true. Recently, I participated in the Relay for Life and my team raised nearly 2500$ for the Canadian Cancer Society. I will publish a post about this event soon.

I am basically the type of girl who likes having fun. I love making new friends, hanging out with my ”besties” and spending time with my boyfriend. I don’t know what I would do without them. My family is also very important to me. I get along very well with my parents, and I think that’s pretty cool. My favorite hobbies are reading, writing and watching movies. I think I’ve seen pretty much every horror movie in this world. Well, maybe not ALL of them, but almost! My favorite sports are tennis and volley-ball. I’m not really an athlete, but I’m in my school’s volley-ball team, which sometimes I find hard to believe! Ha! ha! I also have one true passion: playing the piano. I’ve played it since I was seven and I don’t think I will ever stop. When my fingers hit the keys, I am mentally transported to another dimension. Nothing can stop me and I just forget all my problems.

Here are a few facts about me!

  • I am half Mexican and I speak three languages: English, French and Spanish.
  • My favorite subjects in school are English, French and History.
  • I like watching documentaries and reading about World War 2.
  • My favorite cartoon is Spongebob Squarepants and my favorite movies are The Notebook (classic!), The Secret Garden and Life is Beautiful (classic again!).
  • I love traveling and my dream destination would be Greece.
  • I have a five year old brother named Mateo. He is the boy I love the most in this whole, entire world!
  • My father, my stepmom and my brother live in Florida and I love going there to visit them!
  • My favorite place is Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Feel free to Like my facebook fan page and Follow me on Twitter!

A big hug and a kiss for the Shasha Bread Co for their tasty healthy snacks they provided and to the organizers of the Miss Teen Canada event. Also big thanks to the Internet marketing firm PageOne for all the help with my pageant blog.
